こんにちは〜\(◕ω◕)/♥
Today we want to introduce you to 暖簾 (のれん – noren) – Japanese doorway curtains! You may have seen them in pictures or movies!
暖簾 (のれん – noren) are traditionally used by shops and restaurants to protect from the sun, wind and dust. The name or logo of the shop is often displayed on them! (◕ω<)♪
Japanese bathhouses also use 暖簾 (のれん – noren) at the entrances to the baths. \(◕ω◕)/☆
Usually they are red (for women) and blue (for men) and they have 女 (おんな – onna) – women – and 男 (おとこ – otoko) – men – written on them to indicate the correct entrance.
暖簾 (のれん – noren) are also used as room dividers inside of houses or buildings! (◕ω◕)☆
かっこいいでしょう? \(◕ω<)/♪

Comment by PuniPuni on 06/27/2013 at 6:35 pmI’ll be going to Osaka in a few weeks. Where can these thing be bought? I’m particularly interested in the Totoro sets.
Comment by Mring on 10/06/2013 at 3:02 amThere are lots of Noren shops in Osaka, but I am not sure where they are selling the Totoro ones. Most of the ones they are selling in the stores are more traditional. (◕ω◕)☆ However, I know that J-list has them, so you can buy them online from this link: http://anime.jlist.com/click/4436?url=http://www.jbox.com/product/FK1114
