★　Today’s Japanese phrase is いらっしゃいませ (irasshaimase)!

★　いらっしゃいませ means “Welcome!” or “May I help you?”

★　This phrase is used by store employees. Although you may never need to use this phrase yourself, you will hear it in almost any store you enter in Japan.

★　Unlike the English expression “May I help you?” there is no response to いらっしゃいませ

★　Another form of いらっしゃいませ (irasshaimase) is いらっしゃい (irasshai).

★　いらっしゃいませ (irasshaimase) is more formal than いらっしゃい (irasshai)
