ことわざ (kotowaza) – Japanese Proverbs:

★　Today, we will learn another interesting ことわざ (kotowaza) – Japanese proverb or saying.

★　犬も歩けば棒に当たる (inu mo arukeba bou ni ataru) roughly translates to: “Even a dog runs into a pole when walking.”

★　棒 (bou) can mean “pole” or “stick”

★　There are two main ways to interpret this expression. The negative way to take it is: “Sometimes bad things happen in life” … like running into poles!!

★　The positive way to take it is: “Good things come to those who take action” … like finding a stick!!

★　There is a similar expression in English: “The dog that trots about finds a bone”

★　Sometimes bad things happen in life, but if you keep walking good things will come too!
