There are many ways to count things in Japanese depending on the type of object being counted! Today we will learn how to count cars and other machines in Japanese!

Today’s Counter is: 台

 You can use the Japanese counter 台 (だい – dai) to count cars and other machines such as computers, televisions, and appliances!

 When counting cars and other machines, all of the numbers end in 台 (だい – dai).

 The Japanese word for one (car or machine) is 一台 (いちだい – ichidai).

 The Japanese word for two (cars or machines) is 二台 (にだい – nidai).

  1. There’s probably a mistake in example sentences number 1 & 2.
    ‘匹’ = ‘hiki’ is written instead of ‘台’.
    Could you please check it?

    Romaji versions and example sentence no. 3 are correct.
