★　Last time, we learned the saying: 猫の手も借りたい (neko no te mo karitai) which literally means “I even want to borrow a cat’s hand.”

★　Today we learned another Japanese saying about cats: 猫を被る (neko o kaburu) which literally means “to wear a cat” or “to put a cat on one’s head.”

★　This expression is used when someone is putting on an appearance of sweetness or friendliness, while hiding their true personality.

★　This expression is also a verb phrase, which means that it can be conjugated and used as a part of a longer sentence too. For example, you can say あの人はいつも猫を被ってる。(ano hito wa itsumo neko o kabutteru.) – “That person is always putting on a sweet face.”
